Sitting at the head of lovely Loch Goil, with an uninterrupted, stunning view down the water, the Shore House is a wonderful location to relax and unwind.

It is ideally located on Argyll's beautiful west coast just 90 minutes from Glasgow city centre but feeling like a million miles away. Loch Goil is recognised as one of the most beautiful sea lochs in Scotland and this is a fabulous base for exploring the Cowal peninsula, Loch Lomond National Park and the glorious west coast. Inverary, with its famous castle, home to the Duke of Argyll, is only 18 miles away on the shores of neighbouring Loch Fyne.

Oban is a very scenic 2 hour drive as are the ferry links to Islay and Arran. Our lovely village, Lochgoilhead, has a great selection of facilities for visitors - there is boat hire, cycle hire, kayak hire, laser clay shooting, two outdoor activity centres, golf and swimming at Drimsynie Leisure centre, a thriving bowls club which welcomes visitors, an inn and hotel with restaurants and bars plus miles of amazing walks from lochside to mountain top.

The Cowal Way, which runs from Portavadie to Inveruglas, passes through the village and is a popular 40 mile route for walkers and cyclists.

One of the loveliest features for guests at the Shore House is being able to sit and savour the superb view from our terrace or the sofas in the loch-side lounge, and whilst having breakfast and evening meals. It's a constantly changing panorama with the tide ebbing and flowing, boats bobbing and seabirds wading and soaring. You might spot a seal at high tide and occasionally a red squirrel joins the birds at the nut feeder on the terrace. On warm sunny evenings our waterside terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and when it gets cooler the cosy sofas are an inviting place to sit and relax with a hot chocolate or a 'wee dram'. The Shore House also has a snug bar where you will find a cosy retreat with games, books and a good range of drinks.

Breakfast is served from 8.30 – 9.30 (earlier by arrangement). Guests are provided with a complimentary light breakfast of fruit juice, cereal, muesli, yogurt, fruit and toast with tea or coffee. Full cooked breakfasts are also complimentary for bookings made direct through our website or by phone, and available at a small charge for all other bookings through on-line agencies.

Evening meals are available by arrangement. Just let us know if you wish to have an evening meal with us.

Alternatively there is the Goil Inn just two minutes walk away, or the Drimsynie restaurant ten minutes walk or two minutes by car. We can also recommend other options out of the glen. Packed lunches are available and we will do our best to cater for any special dietary requirements.

The bedrooms are comfortable, traditionally furnished, centrally heated and all have en-suite facilities. Two of them have the fantastic loch view and they all have tv, hospitality tray, hairdryer and free wifi. Each of the four rooms is different so please take a look at the virtual tours and room descriptions to make your choice. The Shore House was built in 1850 as the parish manse and, with its recent extension housing the loch-side lounge and dining room, it is an interesting contrast of the old and the new, with an element of 'quirkiness'. We will do our best to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, enjoy their stay and leave happy and satisfied.

Check in is from 3pm and check out is by 11am.

Please contact us if you require earlier check-in and we will do our best to help.

The Shore House Inn

The Shore House Inn

From 2004 until 2016 we ran the Shore House as a public bar and restaurant but we are now delighted to offer our guests a more exclusive and personalised experience and we have so much more time and energy to put all our efforts into making the Shore House a place where people love to come to relax and chill out. We look forward to welcoming new guests and all the returning guests to our lovely loch-side guesthouse.
